Feature: MANGART, SLOVENIA
Mangart is a giant (2677 m) of Julian Alps and shows a darring image, no matter which side you look from. It is located in far north-west of Slovenia, on a border with Italy.
We gathered on a stormy Friday evening in a cottage with a plan to start very early next day. Weather late in the evening and night was like hell - rain was pouring down, thunders and lightnings were tearing the night. Luckily, we had couple of beers and slept like babies.
After such a stormy night, we woke up in a clear, sunny morning, awfuly cold, but our optimism was only growing.
Couple of meters climbed, we needed a snack and...
... a group shot.
Mangart is not a particularyl difficult peak to reach, neither it takes long time - 2 hours normally, 3 if you are slow like I am with my wife. The so called Slovenian way is more challenging, it is secured with fixed cables and stemples. To some it may sound too scarry and if you suffer with vertigo it is not a very pleasant climb. But to us with some adventureous spirit, it is a very entertaining climb.
Looking down couple of hundred meters makes your heart beat faster, see left.
On a summit, we were blessed with a stunning view, see below.
Mandatory group shot on a summit.

Weather changes quickly in mountains. Looking southeast towards Jalovec (2645m), photo above and below.
